Fighting Amongst Your Selves

I am doing something a little different today. I have been working on the Life Keys Tarot for May and as I was working on the card meaning I realized that in the last few hours I have seen no less than three people post something or email me about a situation that is very relevant to the card this month.

So, I have decided that instead of the post I was originally going to share today (which is also really relevant, related to this card, and is here.) I am going to share with you the text portion of this month’s Life Keys Tarot.  I hope you find it helpful, and even if it doesn’t feel like it is meant for you, please share it with someone who may benefit from it.

May 2012: 5 of Staves

The 5 of Staves can be a difficult card sometimes.

It asks you to really take a good, honest look at the struggles you are having, so that you can see your own part in them.

This is a card about fighting within your own Self, an internal struggle. It might be a struggle between where you are and where you think you should be, or  scolding yourself about what you think you should be doing, or feeling ‘behind’.

When you are in this phase you can often feel restless and lose focus, or you might feel like you are getting nowhere, just moving in circles.

You can lose sight of what is real and true because you may be allowing petty distractions become big obstacles, often because you don’t want to look at what is really stopping you.

You may even be missing actual barriers that can be overcome, once you see them for what they truly are.

In situations like this…

You are your own biggest obstacle, and it’s time to take a long, hard look in that mirror.

That being said, the staves are here as a tool of awareness, not as a bludgeon to beat yourself up with! Everyone falls into the trap of petty bullshit sometimes. It’s totally ok and you are absolutely ready and able to move past it and refocus on what is important.

Things to Ponder:

Rather than a set of individual questions to explore a topic, this series of questions works together as a processing tool.

  • What are you struggling with right now?
  • What are the obstacles in your way?
  • Which of these obstacles are true barriers?
  • Which of these obstacles are self created?
  • What can you do to release the distractions you have created internally?
  • Take some time to assess the external obstacles individually. Where are the weaknesses in these barriers?
  • What is one thing you can do RIGHT NOW to shift past these obstacles?

This week on Pinterest I came a cross a pin that said “You are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way.” And it certainly gave me pause, because I usually AM the only thing standing in my way! Very apt post.
